Entries will be considered official and confirmed once the Organizing Authority has received payment in full and the entry application has been reviewed and approved by the Organizing Authority. The review shall include but not be limited to a review of the boat, racing and open ocean sailing experience of the sailing participants. Any entry application may be reasonably or unreasonably declined by the Organizing Authority, without recourse by the applicant. The foregoing notwithstanding, each sailing and shore crew and other race participant agrees that the sole responsibility for the safety of each participant in the Worrell 1000 Race lies with that individual participant, and acceptance of an entry or of an entry’s personnel to participate in the race, in any capacity whatsoever, does not shift the responsibility to the Organizing Authority or to any other person or entity.

The contents of the Worrell 1000 Race Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions and applicable Class Rules shall be applicable to and incorporated in this application, and registrant agrees that registrant will ensure that, prior to the start of the race, each participant on registrant’s team is familiar with the applicable portions of each of said documents and that each participant on registrant’s team agrees to fully comply with the applicable portions of said documents.

WARNING: SAILING IS AN ACTIVITY THAT HAS AN INHERENT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH AND PROPERTY DAMAGE. THIS RISK IS SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED BY THE NATURE OF THE WORRELL 1000 RACE. Each prospective registrant and participant understands and agrees that each ground, sailing and other participant will be required to sign a waiver, hold harmless and indemnity and covenant-not-to-sue contract prior to the commencement of the race, and that signing this document shall be a condition precedent to participating in the race in any manner whatsoever. Further, each prospective registrant and participant understands and agrees that the failure of a registrant or participant to sign the said contract will result in denial of permission for that person to participate in the race in any manner whatsoever, whether on shore, on the water, as a sailor, or otherwise. Registrant shall communicate this requirement to each prospective ground crew, sailing crew or other member of registrant’s team and shall ensure that each of them signs the said contract. The contract shall require, inter alia, that in consideration of being permitted to participate in the Worrell 1000 Race, and for other good and valuable consideration, each participant in the race shall agree as follows:
Each participant shall agree that they are participating entirely at their own risk of serious injury, death and property damage, including but not limited to any and all injury, death and/or damages resulting from negligence and gross negligence, or from any other cause, whether foreseen or unforeseen and however occurring.
