2021 Worrell 1000 Race
“The Worrell 1000 Race” is an offshore long-distance beach catamaran sailboat race to be held in May 2021 in the Atlantic waters between Florida and Virginia Beach, VA. The race will cover approximately 1000 miles with overnight stops at multiple locations along the East Coast of the United States. The Organizing Authority (OA) for the Worrell 1000 Race will be “Worrell 1000 Race Reunion Race, Inc.”, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, (dba “Worrell 1000 Race”).
The race will be governed by the rules as defined by the current edition of “The Racing Rules of Sailing” and individual applicable Class Rules of the boats sailing, except as modified by this Notice of Race and the Worrell 1000 Race Sailing Instructions.
The Race shall consist of one class with scoring based on overall elapsed time. Eligible boats are Formula 18 class (in compliance with current International Formula 18 Class Rules and with current and valid measurement certificate). Boats must be able to launch from and finish on the beach. The Worrell 1000 Race OA shall have final discretion as to which boats and classes of boats are allowed to compete.
The race will be conducted in stages with each stage starting and ending on the beach.

Only experienced sailing teams will be allowed to participate in the race due to the potential danger involved. Sailors may be required to submit a sailing resume to prove experience. Registration covers race fees only. Registration information will be available on the official web site (https://www.worrell1000race.com/registration. Registration will be limited to the first 15 officially registered teams. Official registration includes acceptance of the registration by the Worrell 1000 Race Organizing Authority and payment of the entry fee.
